What is an Indigenous set-aside?

Under the Procurement Strategy for Indigenous Business (PSIB) — formerly the Procurement Strategy for Aboriginal Business (PSAB) — the Government of Canada reserves certain contracts so that only Indigenous-owned businesses may bid. It is one of the tools behind the federal commitment to award at least 5% of the total value of contracts to Indigenous businesses each year.

To bid on a set-aside, a business generally must be at least 51% owned and controlled by Indigenous peoples, and may need to appear on the Indigenous Business Directory. Tendarix flags these opportunities automatically from the wording of each federal notice, so you can see every live set-aside in one place instead of reading the fine print of each tender.

Tendarix surfaces these notices for convenience and does not determine eligibility. Always confirm the set-aside terms and eligibility requirements in the official notice before bidding.
