Background:
Defence Research and Development Canada (DRDC) - Valcartier has
for mandate to compare in operational scenarios, target
detection and recognition performance of optically image fused
sighting device with small arm weapons, more specifically, a
visible image acquired by an image intensifier (I2) sensor is
optically fused with an image acquired by an uncooled infrared
(IR) imaging sensor. DRDC has infrastructure/facilities based on
digitally image fusion. A performance comparison between
optically and digitally fusion technologies will substantially
benefit DRDC S&T work and our knowledge to continue to provide
pertinent guidance to our clients.
Requirement:
To supply two (2) optically image fusion devices. All technical
specifications and components mentioned in this annex are
mandatory.
The contract includes provision of the 2 optically image fusion
devices (including all components necessary for its operation),
technical documentation, and delivery to DRDC-Valcartier,
Quebec, Quebec, Canada.
Technical Specifications:
Here are some of the technical specifications required (for
complete technical specifications and components required, refer
to the Request for Proposal):
1) It must be a device already developed and for which its
functionalities have been demonstrated (no prototype will be
accepted). Provide with your bid, a commercial pamphlet or any
other official document which proves that your product offered
is not a prototype.
2) It must be an imaging device with two channels; one visible
imaging sensor and one infrared imaging sensor.
3) The visible imaging sensor must be an image intensifier (I2)
type sensor of Gen 2/Gen 3 compatible of 18mm tube format
4) The infrared (IR) imaging sensor must be an uncooled IR
sensor.
5) The visible image must be fused optically with the IR image.
Bidders must be able to deliver the goods within a maximum
period of ten (10 weeks) after the award of Contract.
This Public Works and Government Services Canada office provides
procurement services to the public in both official languages.

procurement.
