Construction of the Landfill Capping and Access Road construction on the West and East
slopes at the Beaver Regional Landfill, located at 50117 Range Road 173 (Secondary
Highway 854), Beaver County, Alberta. The Landfill is stated approximately 2 km northeast of the Village of Ryley, Alberta and is accessed via Range Road 173 from the west side of the site.
The Work will generally consist of:
.1 Mobilization and demobilization of equipment to site, including construction and
remediation of haul roads, site safety, and all temporary works and facilities necessary to
complete the project.
.2 Waste placement and compaction services, and re-grading to achieve final design waste grade prior to slope capping.
.3 Exposing the existing cap structure to tie-in the proposed cap to the existing cap structure.
.4 Placement and compaction of a 600 mm thick clay barrier layer, including connection and tie-in to the existing cap.
.5 Placement of 290 mm thick subsoil layer.
.6 Placement of 130 mm thick topsoil layer.
.7 Construction of new access roads, to be completed with engineered fill (native clay
material from borrow), geotextile and geogrid, 200 mm of base course aggregate, and 150
mm of surfacing aggregate.
.8 Termination of the cap as designated on the drawings.
.9 Installation of run-off prevention berm and erosion matting.
.10 Seeding of capped areas.
.11 Surveying, as required for the completion of all portions of the Work, which must include a detailed as-built geodetic survey of the entire Work area and all the Work performed including the final waste grade elevation, base of the clay barrier and top of clay barrier, base of subsoil layer and top of subsoil layer, and base of topsoil layer and top of topsoil layer. To be provided to and approved by Engineer as construction progresses.
