Full description

This Request for Information (RFI) is issued by Strathcona County (the "County") for the purposes of gathering information about lighting control systems and industry standards in order to assist in the determination of future purchasing options or requirements for lighting control systems. Respondents are asked to respond to the County and provide the information requested.

The County’s intent is to create a robust construction standard for lighting control systems for our organization concerning renovations, replacements, and new construction. Additionally, we seek to align our lighting control systems with industry standards, specifically IEEE 3001.9 and relevant RFC standards, to ensure compliance with best practices for safety, efficiency, and performance. The County aims to understand the ability of systems to be cost-effective, have a 20-year lifecycle, include smart capabilities for scheduling and presence monitoring, and operate efficiently without requiring excessive proprietary controllers.

Lighting control systems are essential for optimizing energy consumption, enhancing occupant comfort, and providing data-driven insights for predictive maintenance.

The County is interested in systems that offer advanced control, automation, and data-driven decision-making capabilities. Ideal systems should support Over-The-Air (OTA) upgrades to keep the technology up-to-date and should be scalable to meet future needs and upgrades.

Respondents are requested to provide information such as the following:

  • System lifecycle and cost-effectiveness
  • Smart capabilities for scheduling and presence monitoring
  • System architecture with minimal use of proprietary controllers
  • Compliance with IEEE 3001.9 standards and relevant RFC standards
