Anticipated Start Date: 1 to 2 months from closing date
Contract Duration: The contract period will be for 5 years from date of contract.
Important Information about the work:
The Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission (CNSC) requires the professional services of an Information Management /Information Technology (IM/IT) Project Manager (PM) on an as and when required basis.
The level of the resource is not a consideration for the CNSC as it is crucial to the success of the projects that the resource possesses the required experience included in the RFP to perform the work.
At CNSC, project teams are comprised of employees and contractors who each perform their specific role depending on the line(s) of business impacted and expertise. The PM(s) must be very hands-on, and must perform the project management tasks themselves and ensure that deliverables are completed when required. There are no project schedulers, coordinators, or admin support for PM(s).
The PM will be required to perform all project related tasks and manage projects in an integrated manner with cross-functional and cross-departmental teams, multiple lines of business and stakeholders. CNSC is also focused on user experience and the employee impact of all initiatives. As a result, there is emphasis on employing organizational change management, user centered design, design thinking, journey mapping and lean processes on all projects.
CNSC uses Agile Project Management methodologies so the PM(s) may be required to apply and adopt the following:
1. Sprint and Minimum Viable Product (MVP) planning
2. Facilitating and leading Product Visioning, Joint Story Mapping, Joint Story Writing & Release planning activities
3. Managing project scope, cost, schedule and progress reporting in an Agile environment
4. Working with multiple Scrum teams and manage dependencies
5. Working with multiple Product Owners and Lines of Business to ensure harmonized business processes and requirements
6. Playing the role of Scrum Master
Given the multi-disciplinary teams, the client focus and that Agile methodologies are employed, communication is an integral part of project planning and implementation and plays a key role in the success of the project. The PM(s) will manage up, down and horizontal communication and will be required to develop and execute comprehensive communication plans.
