AWD vehicles are relatively popular in Canada due to their performance in adverse winter driving conditions. However, with better performance comes a reduction in fuel efficiency (due in part to added vehicle weight and drivetrain parasitic losses) when compared to a two wheel drive (2WD) variant. This study will be used to understand how advances in AWD systems affect GHG performance when compared to a 2WD variant.
