Microwave Vector Network Analyzer
Defence Research and Development Canada (DRDC) has a requirement for a handheld microwave vector network analyzer (VNA) for material research, including measuring the microwave reflectivity (reflection loss) from materials. The frequency range of interest is 1 to 18 Gigahertz (GHz). T
his instrument may be used for measuring materials that are in harsh environments and therefore must be durable. This instrument may be used for determining the material propertiesof permittivity and permeability. DRDC has existing equipment in the form of a broadband microwave antenna with a type N female connector that operates over the frequency range of one to 18 GHz which will be used for making microwave reflectivity measurements from materials in combinationwith the VNA. In addition DRDC has a set of type N male and female Open Short Load calibration standards
