The Department of Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada (AAFC) - Lacombe Research Centre in Lacombe, Alberta, has arequirement for the supply and delivery of one (1) spiral plating system.
A spiral plating system is an instrument that is a widely accepted microbiological surface plating technique used to reduce the amount of agar plates needed in surface spreadsand to ensure equal culture conditions for different sample concentrations. Spiral plater rotate an agar plate while pouring decreasing amounts of liquid sample onto its surface. After incubating the plates, colonies appear distributed along the spiral’s track with a radial decrease in concentration. In this fashion, time-consuming serial dilutions required in conventional spread plating are avoided. It is especially important for ensuring rapid plating of sometimes hundreds of samples, so that microbialproliferation is limited during the course of the procedure.
