Grande Cache is located on Highway 40 North. The town is 440 km
northwest of Edmonton and 140 km north of Hinton, and 180 km
south of Grande Prairie. Grande Cache Institution is immediately
adjacent to the town. This Institution was constructed nearly
25-30 years ago. Grande Cache Institution (GCI) is a Medium
Security Institution for Federally sentenced people.
GCI requires a wireless/remote controlled gate at the property
boundaries to meet its changing needs and to correct anomalies
identified by CSC-GCI.
The purpose for the installation of a remotely controlled gate
is to provide security at property boundary during off hours and
security incidents. In order to prevent unwanted visitors to
bypass this gate; placement of barriers; curbs or large rocks on
each side of this gate may be required as a deterrent to prevent
bypass of the gate.
The requirement for this gate is to be wirelss/remotely
controlled; monitored by cameras and annunciating directly to
Main Communication Control Post (MCCP). Card readers will be
required for GCI staff after hour access; up & down booms would
be installed; an island and concrete curbs will be required to
install the pedestals. A meter and an electrical panel is
available where the gate is to be installed. A computer and
monitor will be required, installed and commissioned in MCCP
computer will be programmed to monitor and control the gates;
cameras and intercom system. Light poles will be needed for
illumination of the area.
Swing gates are not an option due to snow removal and
maintenance activities. "Man-operated" gate is not an option, as
the area is not staffed.
NOTICE - OPTIONAL SITE VISIT
It is recommended that the Bidder or a representative of the
Bidder visit the work site. Arrangements have been made for a
tour of the work site.
There will be a site visit on January 16, 2014 at 10:00 am.
Interested bidders are to meet at the Grand Cache Institution,
located in Grande Cache, AB.
Personal protective equipment such as hard hats and steel toe
boots will not be required.
