Description of the requirement:

The Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission has a requirement for a Help Desk Specialist.
Summary of Duties

• Requests to the Technical Support Center (TSC) are received by phone, e-mail or in person. The role of the TSC Help Desk Specialist is to greet the client, record and manage the details of the request in a call tracking system. Depending on the nature of the problem and short-term call volumes, the Help Desk Specialist will either attempt to resolve the request immediately or assign it to a Desktop Support Administrator or Analyst or to the appropriate resource within the Information Management and Technology Directorate (IMTD).

• TSC Help Desk Specialist provides first level IT client support services to all CNSC sites and/or regional offices for computer hardware and software, multi-media troubleshooting services as well as management of loan inventory.

• Under the supervision of the Team Leader, this first level technical support role may be assigned to provide desktop support services or to provide Technical Support Centre (TSC) Help Desk services. Assignment of responsibilities will be dependent on operational requirements as determined by the Team Leader.

• When necessary, the Help Desk Specialist will assist the Desktop Support Analyst in large-scale deployment of new computer hardware and software or may assist IT project teams involved in client service projects.

Security requirement at bid closing: Valid Facility Security Clearance at the level of SECRET, issued by the Canadian Industrial Security Directorate (CISD), Public Works and Government Services Canada (PWGSC).

Proposed period of contract:

The proposed period of contract shall be from contract award plus 230 days and two irrevocable option periods of 230 days as Option Period 1 and 230 days as Option Period 2.
