Title
Rigid-wall portable shelters for military use (ballistic
shelter).
Purpose
This document sets out the general and specific requirements for
the purchase of portable rigid-wall shelters for military use to
be used as ballistic shelters during live firing. The equipment
is required by the Range and Training Areas (RTA), Valcartier
Garrison, Department of National Defence (DND).
Background
The Valcartier Garrison Range and Training Areas (RTA) are
responsible for providing the Valcartier Garrison with the
equipment necessary for the safe military training of all of its
military personnel.
Requirement
The ballistic shelters will replace the thousands of sandbags
required for the protection of the Lockheed Martin JFC target
system equipment.
The Valcartier Garrison Range and Training Areas (RTA) need to
purchase 60 ballistic shelters that meet all of the following
criteria:
30 rigid-wall dismantlable shelters (ballistic shelters) for
5.56-mm cartridges
30 add-on kits (ballistic shelters) for adapting shelters to
accommodate 7.62-mm cartridges

The Crown retains the right to negotiate with suppliers on any
procurement.
