Cardston County ("the County") invites proposals from qualified, independent public accounting firms to
provide external audit services for the fiscal years ending December 31, 2026 through 2030. The
successful firm will audit the County's consolidated financial statements and provide the related services
described in Section 3, in accordance with Canadian Auditing Standards (CAS), Public Sector Accounting
Standards (PSAS), the Municipal Government Act (Alberta), and Local Authorities Pension Plan (LAPP)
requirements.
The engagement is a five-year term and may be extended by mutual agreement. Either the County or
the auditor may end the engagement on thirty (30) days' written notice, but only during the period
between completion of the prior year's audit and August 31 of the current year; neither party may
withdraw once the annual audit cycle has begun. For contractual purposes, the audit year runs from
September 1 to August 31 each year. Appointment of the successful firm is subject to Council approval,
and Council officially appoints the auditor at its organizational meeting each October.
