PORTABLE RADIO BATTERY CHARGERS
Correctional Service Canada has a requirement for PORTABLE RADIO
BATTERY CHARGERS to be delivered to Kingston, Ontario by 31
March 2013.
Equivalent items will be considered.
NOTE for proposed equivalent items 001 and 002 - Equivalent
single and multi-bay chargers MUST accept the Motorola XTS5000
portable radio batteries or be provided with a suitable adapter
to accommodate this battery type. Equivalent single and
multi-bay chargers MUST be compatible with both NiCd and NiMH
battery chemistries. Equivalent single and multi-bay chargers
MUST require that the battery be removed from the radio to be
charged. Equivalent single and multi-bay chargers MUST use a
rapid charging system, utilizing a dynamic electrochemical
waveform charging system which pulses the charge based on the
atomic structure of the chemistry within the battery.
Equivalent single and multi-bay chargers MUST monitor the
battery during the charge cycle, through analysis of the
charging waveform and the charger must determine in real-time
when a charge cycle is complete. Equivalent single and
multi-bay chargers MUST be 100% forwards compatible with
interchangeable battery adapters to allow the charging of
multiple battery brands, voltages, and chemistries.
NOTE for proposed equivalent item 003 - Equivalent multi-bay
maintainers MUST perform rotational cycling of the batteries and
monitor battery charge status to eliminate the drainage effects
of long term storage. Equivalent multi-bay maintainers MUST
accept the Motorola XTS5000 portable radio batteries or be
provided with a suitable adapter to accommodate this battery
type. Equivalent multi-bay maintainers MUST be compatible with
both NiCd and NiMH battery chemistries. Equivalent multi-bay
maintainers MUST require the battery to be removed from the
radio to be charged. Equivalent multi-bay maintainers MUST be a
rapid charging system, utilizing a dynamic electrochemical
waveform charging system which pulses the charge based on the
atomic structure of the chemistry within the battery.
Equivalent multi-bay maintainers MUST monitor the battery during
the charge cycle, through analysis of the charging waveform and
the charger must determine in real-time when a charge cycle is
complete. Equivalent multi-bay maintainers MUST be 100%
forwards compatible with interchangeable battery adapters to
allow the charging of multiple battery brands, voltages, and
chemistries.
Battery adapters are not required if the equivalent single and
multi-bay chargers and multi-bay maintainers can properly charge
the NiCd and NiMH Motorola XTS5000 portable radio batteries
without adapters.
