Description complète

The Service:
The project is to film, produce and broadcast one-minute segments featuring children awaiting adoption and to highlight the need for adoptive families in Alberta. These segments are aimed at intentionally recruiting adoptive applicants. Each season consists of thirteen (13) segments and are to be broadcast during the Fall (September to December) and Winter/Spring (January to May) seasons for the next three (3) years.

The Contractor, as Producer, shall produce and broadcast the series as follows:

  • Each season of the Wednesday’s Child program will consist of a 13-part series, each approximately one minute in duration, to be aired in regular time slots on CTV Edmonton and CTV Calgary and for twenty (20) plays per week throughout the schedule including educational time on CTV Two Alberta. Each segment will be hosted by on-air talent acceptable to Alberta Children and Family Services and CTV/Bell Media. The on-air talent must have:

o Experience in all aspects of television production, including on air
o An awareness and understanding of POPA/ATIA legislation and how it applies to the children and the production of the program
o Experience working with children who have disabilities and a history of trauma
o Flexibility in approach to productions involving children with special needs
o Excellent communication skills
o Ability to be a team player
o Ability to be an ambassador for the program in the community

  • Each segment will be filmed and edited in documentary style. When possible, each segment will include a sound bite from the child or children being featured.
  • Additional information about the child will be included in voice-overs. The pace of each segment and length of time required to shoot each segment will be determined largely by the needs of the child or children involved.
  • Segments will be provided as a complete package, including the corporate sponsor’s opening and closing visual tags on the tape format requested by the stations airing the program. Copies will be distributed accordingly.
  • All elements of the segments must be produced to meet broadcast standards, including high definition (when required).
  • Each segment will begin with a graphic opening and a visual tag with a credit to Alberta Children and Family Services and CTV television stations in Alberta.
  • Closed captioning of all segments to comply with the Canadian Radio-Television and Telecommunications Commission (CRTC) requirements.
  • The cost of the electronic copies to post on the Alberta Children and Family Services Website and/or social media outlets for the full season will be included in the project.
  • The Contractor will be responsible for travel expenses of contractor staff while carrying out the responsibilities of this agreement.
