The Department of Canadian Heritage (PCH) manages a diverse Web presence comprised of various types of sites (corporate/departmental, multi-jurisdictional and collaborative) serving a wide range of visitors, including departmental clients and Canadians. A few years ago, PCH completed its Web Transformation Strategy (WTS), a multi-year project, which involved developing an integrated, interactive online experience that is client-driven.
Transformation is an ongoing activity and as such PCH is undertaking an application portfolio review of the departmental applications,in order to simplify, homogenize andrationalize its applications, frameworks and middleware. Similarly to a number of other government-wide initiatives, the web standards (usability, interoperability and Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) compliance obligations) and the web renewal project will require PCH to continue to transform its public web presence.
