Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada (AAFC) is seeking scientifically rigorous data and methodologies to support estimates of land use, energy use, fossil fuel consumption, nitrogen loss, greenhouse gas emissions and water use associated with the production of Canadian agricultural products. Work must be completed on or before 31 October, 2017.
This Letter of Interest (LOI) seeks information from industry on its interest, capacity and ability to deliver Data and Methodologies to Support Estimates of Environmental Sustainability Metrics for Canadian Agricultural Products; and to provide industry the opportunity to give feedback on the procurement strategy.
The data generated as a part of this project will cover the entire agricultural region of Canada, will be flexible in terms of spatial scale, will vary appropriately with time, and will be focused on the major field crops and animal production industries of Canada. The data will contain a wide range of coefficients, emission factors and other derived variables that can be used to estimate ESM.
