The Department of National Defence has a requirement for a one (1) 3D Borescope to be used for aircraft inspection purposes to enable 14 Aircraft Maintenance Squadron (14 AMS) aviation technicians to obtain quality diagnostic images and measurements, save time and increase overall productivity. Borescope inspections are carried out on all engines during the Periodic Inspection of each aircraft. The technicians’ ability to determine if a turbine or compressor assembly are serviceable is directly dependent on the quality of the images obtained during the borescope inspection. If images are not clear and detailed some minor defects maycome into question and require extensive and unnecessary maintenance action to verify.
