Nature of Requirements:
Amendment 001 is being raised to correct the period of the
contract in the request for proposal.
Operational Space-Based AIS Data
The Canadian Space Agency has a requirement to procure
operational space-based AIS data sets via a constant data feed
for real time monitoring of maritime traffic in both the
Canadian Domestic Maritime and Global Areas of Interest (AOIs).
While the principal requirement is for operational space-based
AIS data sets (i.e., processed AIS data sets), the Government of
Canada may require, from time to time, additional data as
described below. Any additional data will only be provided for
a specified time period and only if requested by the Technical
Authority identified in the contract. Under no circumstances
will additional data be accepted unless requested in writting by
the Technical Authority beforehand:
a. Additional data refresh: The Government of Canada may
require additional data refresh per day, if available by the
supplier, for either the Canadian Maritime AOI or the Global
Maritime AOI;
b. Raw space-based AIS data: The Government of Canada may
require as well all (other) forms of the data acquired to serve
operational objectives / needs, specifically for the purpose of
carrying out R&D activities. Therefore, the Government of Canada
could require data representing the output of the receiver
(i.e., the spectrum signal and I/Q samples of the signal) to be
delivered as raw AIS data. This data set shall consist of
unprocessed space-based AIS data.
Space-based AIS data sets shall be provided from AIS messages
transmitted by ships on waters within the following operational
areas of interest (AOIs):
- Canadian Domestic Maritime AOI: Up to 1200 Nautical Miles (NM)
east or west from the Atlantic and/or Pacific Oceans from the
Canadian land mass, as well as Atlantic, Pacific and Arctic
approaches to Canadian waters;
- Global Maritime AOI: Any area on the Earth and must include
the Canadian Domestic Maritime AOI.
Period of the contract: Contract award date - March 31st 2013
with two (2) options to extend for periods of one (1) year each.
The requirement is subject to a preference for Canadian goods
and/or services.
All of the specifications are detailed in Annex A - Requirement
of the Request for Proposal (RFP).

The Crown retains the right to negotiate with suppliers on any
procurement.
