The Geomatics Research Section within the Science and Technology Branch (STB) of the Department of Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC) is looking to procure Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) equipment, such as the Trimble R12i receiver or equivalent, to further enhance our data collection methodology and aid our research programs across Canada.A majority of their research projects involve surveying wetland areas around the Great Lakes in Ontario and lichen areas in the Mackenzie Mountain region in the Arctic. Both research areas usually involve performing a drone survey that requires the use of ground control points (GCPs) to improve both the accuracy and precision of the aerial drone survey. Therefore, ECCC require a highly accurate and precise GNSS that can be used in areas without cellular data reception, including remote areas in the Arctic region (above 60 degrees in latitude). The Geomatics Research Section is also procuring five (5) Trimble TDC600 handheld data collectors or equivalent. This handheld data collector must be supported by, and able to collect information from the GNSS receiver in this procurement requirement.
Required items are listed under Annex A and paragraph 4.2 of the Bid Solicitation.
