Title : Study of the Effectiveness of Laser Beam Jamming On
Infrared Tracking Systems.
Objective :
The objective of the contract is to study the effectiveness of
laser beam jamming on infrared tracking systems by using the
SEMAC (Simulator of Engagements between Missiles, Aircraft and
Countermeasures) and Samsara laboratories. The Contractor shall
have a number of tasks to perform, such as studying the impact
of the parameters of a simple jamming code on a system, studying
the impact of the parameters of a jamming code with shifting on
a system, studying the impact of a mixed jamming code on
multiple systems, and studying the impact of emerging laser
sources with a simple jamming code on a system.
Background/History :
For a number of years, DRDC Valcartier has conducted research
into laser beam jamming on infrared tracking systems. Certain
parameters are determining factors in the effectiveness of
jamming: the frequencies used, the amplitude and duration of
frequency shifts, fill factor, etc. These studies are currently
being conducted in the SEMAC (optical stimulation) and Samsara
(electrical stimulation) laboratories. To clearly determine the
importance of each of the parameters listed here, a
well-targeted study must be conducted in order to demonstrate
the influence of each parameter on the effectiveness of laser
beam jamming.
Phases :
The phases of the Contract are as follows :
Phase 1 - Development of software tool and study of single code
Phase 2 - Study of mixed code
Phase 3 - Study of the effects of new laser technologies
For each phase, there are many associated tasks and sub-tasks.
Client department :
The services will be rendered to Defence Research and
Development Canada (DRDC-Valcartier).
Period of the contract :
The period of the contract is from the date of the contract to
March 31, 2017 inclusive.
Estimated funding available :
The maximum funding available for the contract resulting from
the bid solicitation is $215,000.00 CAD (applicable taxes extra)
for the firm part and optional part.
Intellectual property rights
Any intellectual property rights arising from the performance of
the Work under the resulting contract will belong to the
Contractor.
Work location:
Most of the work of this contract must be performed at DRDC
Valcartier (2459 Bravoure Road, Québec, QC, Canada, G3J 1X5).
