Public Services and Procurement Canada have a project which entails the redevelopment of the Nikku Lane site in Iqaluit, involving the construction of a 23-unit apartment building designed to support federal housing needs. The work includes demolition of the former single-family dwellings (already completed) and full site preparation for a new multi storey residential building containing 12 three-bedroom units and 11 two-bedroom units, totaling 58 bedrooms. In addition to new building construction, the contractor may be required to undertake environmental remediation, pending results of further sampling planned for 2025. Contractors should also be fully aware of building codes and LEED certification required for the build. This solicitation is limited for bidding among firms registered on the Inuit Firm Registry (IFR). Restricting tendering to Modern Treaty rights holders aligns with the Government of Canada’s Buy Canadian objectives by prioritizing domestic suppliers. The Contractor must perform and complete the Work within 133 weeks.
