The Forestry Division owns and operates 35 primary and secondary fire bases (camps) in 10 Forest Areas located throughout Alberta. Personnel hired seasonally to support fire fighting efforts live at these camps during fire season, consuming meals prepared and served by contractors. Camp supervisors Act as the main point of contact at these fire bases, overseeing base operations.
The primary role of a Firebase Catering and Janitorial Consultant hired under this contract is to conduct regular assessments of contracted food and cleaning services delivery at firebases and incident camps and assist the Province with ensuring contractors meet Alberta Health standards for food preparation/handling and cleaning of camp facilities.
Assessments will be submitted via a templated report. When significant findings are identified, consultants will advise on site officials and prepare and submit documented findings within 24 hours of the initial observation. Consultants will also be required to provide camp management advice/expertise to contractors, camp supervisors and other forestry personnel overseeing delivery of food and cleaning services contracts.
Successful Proponents will be assigned to one of three work areas for the duration of the contract. From time to time a consultant may be required to travel to a firebase or incident camp beyond their assigned working to conduct an assessment. In such cases travel times will be discussed and agreed upon prior to travelling.
Up to four (4) Contracts may be awarded through this RFP.
