Full description

In the event the province requires Firetack Crew resources for emergency operations and activities related to wildfire operations, the Ministry of Forestry and Parks may enter into non-guaranteed contracts to deliver those services. The term “non-guaranteed” means the crew(s) will be hired on an as-needed basis with no guarantee of work. Agreements may be signed with qualified contractors who intend on conducting business with the province. Firetack crews require specific wildfire training (NFPA training is not accepted) as well as other additional training such as first aid and chainsaw training as outlined in the attached contract. Contractors also require insurance and a valid COR or equivalent. Please contact your local forest area office for more information.

Firetack Secondary Crew

  • No more than 4 individuals uncertified.
  • All individuals will have ICS 100, First Aid with CPR, WHMIS and applicable Firetack course for the position.
  • Leader must have TDG Air.
  • Two chainsaw operators, excluding leader(1 Faller and 1 Bucker)
  • 2 individuals with valid driver’s licences.
  • All individuals who will be driving must have a valid TDG Ground ticket.
  • Contractor provides two 4x4 trucks.
  • must supply cellphone and GPS
  • guaranteed 5 days of work per hire.

Firetack Zero day

  • No more than 4 individuals uncertified.
  • All individuals will have ICS 100, and WHMIS and applicable Firetack course for the position.
  • 4 people must have First Aid with CPR.
  • Crew Leader must have TDG Ground
  • One chainsaw operator, excluding leader (Bucker).
  • Zero Day contract has option for contractor to provide trucks.
  • When contractor supplies 4x4 trucks, 2 individuals on the crew must have valid driver’s licences.
  • All individuals who will be driving must have a valid TDG Ground ticket.

  • Guaranteed 3 days of work per hire.
