Nature of Requirements:
The Canadian Forces Health Services Training Center (CFHSTC),
produces qualified Preventive Medicine (PMed) Technicians
(Techs). PMed Techs must be able to competently and thoroughly
inspect working, living and food preparation areas in Canada and
abroad, determine the presence or threat of insect pests and
provide safe, efficient pesticide application and education to
prevent and/or eradicate any infestation. The PMed Tech must
routinely be able to perform these duties as the sole expert,
requiring little or no technical supervision while operating in
full compliance with the applicable provincial, territorial
and/or national laws, regulations and standards.
The purpose of this notice is to obtain a qualified educator or
educators to teach the material necessary to enable the PMed
Tech students to successfully complete the Ontario Ministry of
the Environment (OME) Pesticide Applicator's Core, OME
Structural Licence, OME Fumigation General Licence, OME Biting
Fly License, OME Industrial Vegetation License examinations and
be able use taxonomic keys to identify stored product pests and
biting flies of medical importance 14-09-12 to 24-10-12 and
03-05-13 to 10-05-13. Within that period, field exercises are
to consist of a complete fumigation process, collecting and
identifying biting fly larvae and adult samples, choose control
methods, vegetation control, will be incorporated in the
proposed schedule.
