The Correctional Service of Canada is committed to providing programs and opportunities to meet the Spiritual Needs of the Aboriginal populations within the institutions as per CD 702. The Correctional Service of Canada is legislated to provide Aboriginal offenders with the opportunity to further develop their understanding of traditional Aboriginal spirituality while allowing others to practice their beliefs and values systems including the use of sweat lodge ceremonies.
The Correctional Service Canada has a requirement provide wood delivery for the Pacific region from Kwìkwèxwelhp Healing Village to other institutions in the region, including Chilliwack Community Corrections.
The work will involve the following:
1.1 Objectives:
To assist in the timely delivery of firewood to institutions operating scheduled sweat lodge ceremonies for aboriginal offenders.
1.2 Tasks:
Contractor must pick up firewood from Kwìkwèxwelhp Healing Village in own dump truck and deliver to the following federal institutions in the pacific region as directed by project authority:
1. Fraser Valley Institution – 33344 King Road Abbotsford BC
2. Mission Institution – 8751 Stave Lake Road Mission BC
3. Matsqui Institution – 33344 King Road Abbotsford BC
4. Ferndale Institution – 33737 Dewdney Trunk Road Mission BC
5. Mountain Institution – 4732 Cemetery Road Agassiz BC
6. Pacific Institution – 33344 King Road Abbotsford BC
7. Kent Institution – 4372 Cemetery Road Agassiz BC
8. Chilliwack CCC – 45914 Rowat Avenue Chilliwack BC
1.3 Expected results:
The contractor will provide firewood necessary for ceremonial needs of Aboriginal offenders,
1.4 Performance standards:
Hours of Work and activities undertaken will be documented by the contractor by way invoices for each individual delivery. These will be submitted to the Project Authority for review and payment authorization.
1.5 Deliverables:
1.5.1 Estimated level of effort is 155 hours with small truck, or 112 hours with large truck or a combination of both ensuring that total contract amount is not exceeded for the first year, and 338 hours for the small truck or 244 hours with the large truck or a combination of both ensuring that total contract amount is not exceeded for each of the four option years
1.5.2 Paper consumption:
a. Should printed material be required, double sided printing in black and white format is the default unless otherwise specified by the Project Authority.
b. The Contractor must ensure printed material is on paper with a minimum recycled content of 30% and/or certified as originating from a sustainably managed forest.
c. The Contractor must recycle unneeded printed documents (in accordance with Security Requirements).
