Trade Agreement: NAFTA/AIT/Canada FTAs with Peru/Colombia/Panama
Tendering Procedures: All interested suppliers may submit a bid
Attachment: None
Competitive Procurement Strategy: Lowest/Lower Bid
Comprehensive Land Claim Agreement: No
Nature of Requirements:
Requirement: Throughout the year, La Mauricie National Park
offers Canadians both hiking and cross-country skiing
activities. The hiking trail network spans over 100-kilometers
and the cross-country skiing network extends over almost
80-kilometers. These trails are broken down into three levels of
difficulty categorized according to the morphology of the
terrain.
It is important to provide users with safe trails. Given our
region's climate change, the number of interventions that we
must carry out in order to perform repairs are becoming
increasingly frequent. With the new Agency guidelines issued by
the government, we have a decreasing number of personnel to
carry out this type of maintenance work.
In this context, the acquisition of suitable mechanical
equipment will enable us to respond quickly when interventions
are required as well as maintain an adequate level of
maintenance.
We are currently in the process of replacing several culverts
that are over forty years old. The acquisition of a mini
excavator would enable us to do the work in-house and continue
the trail rehabilitation project.
Moreover, if we acquire this equipment it could also be used for
other projects, such as the restoration of aquatic ecosystems
(Action on the Ground Program), or as support during certain
operations (prescribed fires, firefighting, etc.) carried out by
the fire team.
In summary, the Parks Canada Agency wishes to acquire a mini
excavator that meets all the mandatory technical criteria
identified in the Request For Proposal docuement.
