vWORLD CAPABILITY DEVELOPMENT SUPPORT
vWorlds using distributed synthetic environments with human
representation as avatars are increasingly being used for
collaborative work. In particular DRDC is interested in the use
of specific vWorlds to enable Department of National
Defence/Canadian Forces (DND/CF) to conduct the development and
review of spatial systems such as naval compartment layouts and
team processes.
The objective of this contract is to provide support to a two
year agility project to develop a capability to use vWorlds at
DRDC Atlantic (Halifax, NS) and DRDC Toronto and to demonstrate
the application of vWorld technologies to naval projects.
The support is required to cover:
a. The provision of training on the OpenSimulator(OpenSIM)
vWorld technology
b. Conduct of studies of the interoperability of OpenSIM with
other DND/CF simulation technology
c. Development of accreditation documentation for deployment of
the technology on DND/CF networks.
d. Development of vWorld content.
A maximum budget of $100,000.00 plus applicable taxes has been
set aside for this project. Completion date of this project is
February 28, 2014.
