The proposed requirement is subject to the Sahtu Dene and Metis Comprehensive Land Claim Agreement.
PWGSC is seeking the services of a qualified General Contractor to undertake the reconstruction and repair of the Canadian Coast Guard Wharf in Norman Wells, NWT. The existing wharf, located on the north bank of the Mackenzie River in Norman Wells, NWT. was built in 1975.
The wharf consists of a steel sheet pile wall and ramp retaining a concrete and rock fill loading and storage area. Access is from a public service road. The wharf is subjected to excessive ice loads and the existing Sheet Pile wall requires repair and / or replacement. Deadman’ anchors, installed along the west side of the wharf provide structural support for the sheet steel piling and also require repair and/or replacement. The rip rap has eroded and is too small to protect the shoreline and steel sheet pile wharf.
The river fronting the wharf has significant infilling and will require dredging to allow access for the Coast Guard vessels.
Reconstruction work will need to be complete by Jan 31, 2017
