The Global Institute for Energy, Minerals & Society (GIEMS) is leading the Nuclear Research Reactor FEL-1 Feasibility Study to assess the potential development of a nuclear research reactor at the University of Saskatchewan's Saskatoon campus. The study includes four independently procured assessment work packages addressing distinct aspects of the project's feasibility.
Through RFP-D, GIEMS is seeking a qualified proponent to assess the potential research, testing, and training applications of a nuclear research reactor, including the demand, capabilities, and institutional requirements necessary to support its effective utilization.
The assessment will examine current and prospective users, research and testing applications, training opportunities, potential utilization, and the supporting facilities, equipment, infrastructure, and operational requirements.
The work will also consider integration with existing campus and research infrastructure, quality assurance and control, data integrity, research governance requirements, institutional capacity, and potential capability gaps.
The findings will contribute to the overall FEL-1 feasibility assessment and help identify the conditions, uncertainties, and further analysis required to consider advancing the project to FEL-2.
Interested proponents should review the full RFP for scope, deliverables, qualifications, and submission requirements.
