VIBRATORY SINGLE DRUM ROLLER
Defence R & D Canada Suffield has a requirement for a vibratory
single drum roller for compacting fill materials in horizontal
construction projects in support of various experimental,
testing and training facilities.
MINIMUM MANDATORY SPECIFICATIONS:

1 General Specifications:
1.1 The compactor must be a smooth, single-drum vibratory type.
1.2 The gross power of the compactor must be minimum 80 hp.
1.3 The height of the machine must be a maximum 144 inches.
1.4 The transmission must be a power shift, power shuttle,
hydrostatic, or equivalent.
1.5 The vehicle must be winterized, including a 110-volt block
heater and glow plugs.
1.6 The manufacturers standard or better pneumatic rear tires
must be included.
1.7 Engine and hydraulics must operate on industry standard,
commercially available supply fluids.
1.8 Vehicle must operate on diesel fuel.
2 Compaction Specifications:
2.1 The drum vibratory impact centrifugal force must be a
minimum 15000 lbs.
2.2 The drum width must be between 66 - 72 inches.
3 Cab, Instrumentation, and Lighting:
3.1 The cab must be enclosed.
3.2 Cab must have heating system and air conditioning
3.3 Must include windshield wipers.
3.4 Instrumentation inside the cab must include a tachometer and
an hour meter.
3.5 Lighting must be on the top of the cab (front and rear).
4 Safety:
4.1 The compactor must include a buzzer automatically activated
when the compactor is placed in reverse.
4.2 Brakes and steering must be the manufacturers standard.
4.3 The operator's station must meet Rollover Protective
Structure (ROPS) standards applicable to machines for sale in
Canada.
4.4 Must include operator's station with safety restraints (seat
belt)
5 Documentation:
5.1 Must provide a complete set of all operators and maintenance
manuals for the vehicle.
