Environment Canada requires an online permit (e-Permitting) issuing solution for Migratory Game Bird Hunting (MGBH).
Under the authority stipulated under Section 4(1) of the Migratory Birds Regulations of the Migratory Bird Convention Act, 1994, Environment Canada sells and issues hard-copy MGBH permits with affixed Canadian Wildlife Habitat Conservation Stamps commencing August 1st of each year. The majority of the ~180,000 hard-copy permits and stamps sold, each year are purchased between August 1st and October 15th, with the sales period ending on June 30th of the following year. These hard-copy permits are available over-the-counter from Canada Post outlets, a variety of retail stores and by mail directly from Environment Canada.
In order to improve service delivery to Canadians, and to more effectively use government resources, Environment Canada is seeking to widen its method of permit delivery by providing the public with the option of purchasing permits on-line and having the permit issued electronically to the purchaser.
