DTAES is the regulatory agency for the technical aspects of
Military AW in Canada. Under the Aeronautics Act, the Minister
of National Defence (MND) has responsibilities for managing
military aeronautical products. He has delegated authorities
for technical AW to Directorate General Aerospace Equipment
Program Management (DGAEPM), and in turn, DTAES. A team of
regulators and program support specialists develop, maintain and
assist in the implementation of the Technical Airworthiness
Program within the Department of National Defence (DND) and the
Canadian Forces (CF), and within civilian organizations involved
with military aeronautical products. This regulatory team is
comprised of DND/CF (military and civilian) employees, and
supplemented by contractor personnel as required.
DTAES is also responsible for the provision of matrixed
specialist engineering support to the aircraft fleets managed by
DND/CF. A pool of subject matter experts provide engineering
services in specialized aerospace fields to support and
complement the skills, knowledge and experience of Weapon System
Management (WSM) staff, Project Management Organization (PMO)'s
and Operational staff. This specialized team is comprised of
DND/CF (military and civilian) employees, and supplemented by
contractor personnel as required.
The period of the Contract is from date of Contract award until
31 March 2017 with an irrevocable option to extend the term of
the Contract by up to one (1) additional one-year periods.
