Title: Steamboat Bituminous Surface Treatment Upgrade
Location: km 539.9 to km 552.72, Alaska Highway, BC
Work Description:
Work under this Contract is for the improvement of the Highway
between km 539.9 and km 552.75 of the Alaska Highway in
Northeast BC. Town of Fort Nelson is at km 453 of the Alaska
Highway. Work includes but is not limited to the following:
Remove and stockpile various lengths of existing pre-cast
concrete shoulder barrier and replace with new pre-cast concrete
shoulder barrier.
Sub-excavation of various sections of the existing highway,
installation of Geotextiles, perforated pipe and backfill with
granular backfill material and top with compacted Base gravels.
For the other sections of the Highway , the existing Bituminous
Surface Treatment (BST) and underlying base course shall be
pulverized, bladed, shaped and compacted.
Apply emulsified asphalt followed by application of aggregate to
roadway surface (BST).
Common excavation to improve drainage and highway slopes.
Supply of Asphalt Liquid.
Removal and disposal of existing Corrugated Steel Pipe (CSP).
Insall new 600mm and 900mm diameter CSPs.
Provide and run construction camp as necessary.
Supply Certified Independent Testing and Survey Services.
Provide dust control in the Mill Creek Gravel Pit.

Complete work by September 30, 2013.

Value of Project:
To assist with bonding and insurance requirements, this project
is estimated to cost between
$4,250,000 and $4,500,000.
Firms intending to submit tenders for this project should obtain

services provider. Firms that elect to base their bid on tender
(solicitation) documents obtained from other sources do so at
their own risk and will be solely responsible to inform the bid
