1. Advance Contract Award Notice (ACAN)
An ACAN is a public notice indicating to the supplier community that a department or agency intends to award a contract for goods, services or construction to a pre-identified supplier, thereby allowing other suppliers to signal their interest in bidding, by submitting a statement of capabilities. If no supplier submits a statement of capabilities that meets the requirements set out in the ACAN, on or before the closing date stated in the ACAN, the contracting officer may then proceed with the award to the pre-identified supplier.
2. Definition of the requirement
Health Canada’s (HC) Health Products and Food Branch (HPFB) Food Research Division requires the supply and delivery of an automatic protein digestion instrument to automate the digestion, desalting and clean-up of food protein samples prior to analysis by mass spectrometry.
The system must allow for protein digestion to be done unattended, thereby reducing the backlog and minimizing the variability with current manual sample preparation methods. A DigestPro MSi system from Intavis that includes the following upgrade modules is identified to meet all mandatory requirements.
-In-Gel Digestion with cooled collection position 96 well format instead of ambient collection position
-In-solution digestion - Custom Rack - Can be cooled and heated, temperature range (8°C - 70°C).
-sample desalting and concentration/purification - 96 well format with Zip Tips (TM for Millipore Corp.) or compatible reversed phase tips
3. Criteria for assessment of the Statement of Capabilities (Minimum Essential Requirements)
-The instrument must digest up to 96 samples per run in a sealed system to prevent contamination of samples.
-The system must perform all of the required steps for both in-gel and in-solution digestions including, but not limited to the following:
*reduction;
*alkylation;
*digestion;
*silver reduction;
*washing steps
-The system must also deliver, enable and support the ability to heat (up to 80°C) or cool samples (down to 8°C)
-The system must deliver, enable and support the ability to integrate solid-phase clean-up of samples (Example C-18) and sample enrichment.
-The sample and reagent vial holder must deliver, enable and support the ability to be temperature regulated between 8-65°C.
-The system must be expandable to accept a wide variety of sample and reagent vials or plates.
