Department of Medical Microbiology and Immunology, submitted a sole source request for SLA-SE, which is clinical grade adjuvant that will be used in the formulation of Phase I HCV vaccine human clinical trial from Access to Advanced Health Institute (AAHI). The department have been testing multiple adjuvants in animal models to determine the most efficient adjuvant that would elicit the best antibody and T cell response. The research data indicates SLA-SE from AAHI provides superior immune response when formulated with antigen purified at the University of Alberta.
