Full description

Fabri Sciences Inc. is a medical software company with a focus on chronic wound management. Their wound measurement software, Wound 3 is a patient/clinic-deployable mobile application, certified by Health Canada and active in medical institutions across Alberta and the United States. Fabri is critical to the success of the 5G LL research being conducted by our lab, serving as the primary software vendor for the project.

Dr. Burrell and Fabri Sciences Inc. jointly applied for a grant through the 5G LL fund at the University of Alberta, with Fabri Sciences providing the proprietary software being used, and the custom functionality built into the product for the purposes of the study. Considering this partnership, a direct award has been issued for the following reasons:

  • To ensure compatibility with existing products, to recognize exclusive rights,

exclusive licenses, copyright and patent rights, or to maintain specialized
products that must be maintained by the manufacturer or its representative;

  • An absence of competition for technical reasons;
  • For the procurement of a prototype of a first good or service to be developed in

the course of, and for a, particular contract for research, experiment, study or
original development but not for any subsequent purchases
