University of Calgary - Advanced Contract Award Notice / Notice of Proposed Procurement - Benchtop Mass Spectrometer System

The University of Calgary (UCalgary) plans to purchase the MALDI Biotyper sirius, benchtop (at a weight of 75kg) – MALDI - Time of Flight (TOF) mass spectrometer for accurate mass determination of bio-molecules. The systems Matrix-Assisted Laser Desorption/Ionization Time-of-Flight technology enables rapid and accurate identification of a wide array of microorganisms directly from patient specimens. The supplier’s proprietary database of microbial spectral profiles allows the lab to match sample spectra ensuring precise identification. To the lab’s knowledge, no other supplier has this specialized database.

This system has a proprietary clinical database that the lab requires for microbial analysis of clinical samples for research project.
