The University of Calgary (UCalgary) requires the purchase of CEDIA and DRI reagents, calibrators, and controls from Diagnostix Ltd, a Thermo Fisher Scientific company. The Alberta Centre for Toxicology (ACFT) at UCalgary conducts urine drug testing to support the Alberta Health Services Opioid Dependency Program (ODP). To ensure standardization of ODP testing and the provision of comparable services across the AHS consortium, it is necessary to procure the same reagents, calibrators, and controls currently in use. ACFT’s current systems utilize Thermo Diagnostics CEDIA™ and DRI™ reagents on the DxC 500 AU and Olympus AU480 instruments. To maintain compatibility, standardization, and consistency of testing and results across the AHS consortium, it is essential to continue using the same equipment and these specific reagents, which helps to avoid significant validation, instrument downtime, additional costs and minimize testing errors. It is ACFT’s understanding that only Diagonstix’s reagents and consumables can meet their research and operational requirements.
