The University of Calgary (UCalgary) intends to purchase the z-Movi® Cell Avidity Analyzer with a one-year service contract from Lumicks USA Inc. The z-Movi® Cell Avidity Analyzer is a unique instrument to measure cell avidity, a key parameter for the development of immuno-oncology therapies. z-Movi directly quantifies cell–cell binding strength at single-cell resolution of hundreds of cells simultaneously by applying contactless acoustic forces (based on AFS technology). The binding avidity measured by the z-Movi combines reproducibility and speed of biophysical methods with the predictiveness of a functional assay. Both AFS and z-Movi technology was invented by LUMICKS’ founders and employees and published in Nature Methods (online November 24th, 2014) and Cell Reports (September 11, 2018). LUMICKS holds several patents on these technologies. To UCalgary’s knowledge, LUMICKS USA Inc. is the only company currently offering instruments for measuring cell avidity at cellular level of hundreds of cells simultaneously.
