The University of Calgary intends to purchase a GridION sequencing instrument platform from Oxford Nanopore Technologies Canada Limited. To the university’s knowledge, this is the only supplier that can provide a compact benchtop instrument that can run and analyze five flow cells simultaneously or separately and meets all requirements for research involving the sequencing projects that range from metabarcoding of small DNA fragments to sequencing of ultra-long reads for the assembly of new genomes.
