The University of Calgary (UCalgary) intends to purchase the BX53 Digital Fluorescence Microscope system, DP75 Digital Camera, cellSens imaging software and accessories from Evident Canada Inc. The UCalgary Faculty of Veterinary Medicine currently uses 150 Olympus microscopes and cellSens imaging software for teaching, research, clinical, and diagnostic work. Many components, including cameras, image capture software, and objective lenses, are interchangeable between systems, greatly reducing downtime in the event of equipment malfunction or damage. The required microscope system, digital camera, and accessories must seamlessly integrate with existing equipment in the facility, particularly with Olympus cellSens software, and allow for the interchangeability of RMS-threaded objectives between systems. Additionally, the DP75 digital camera is exclusively compatible with cellSens software, and this purchase includes upgrading all current software to the most current Windows 11 compliant software. The faculty requires the new microscope to be purchased from the same vendor to ensure full compatibility with existing instruments and software.
