University of Calgary - Advanced Contract Award Notice / Notice of Proposed Procurement - Gloveless Anaerobic Chamber

The University of Calgary (UCalgary) plans to purchase the Anaerobe Systems AS 500 Gloveless Anaerobic Chamber from Biolog. This equipment provides a controlled oxygen-free environment for the culture, manipulation, and analysis of strict anaerobic microorganisms required for the research program. To the universities’ knowledge, Biolog Inc. is the sole Canadian distributor of this system.
The independently controlled incubator maintains temperature up to 50°C while keeping the rest of the chamber at room temperature, enabling simultaneous growth of microbial communities with different temperature preferences. This is a critical requirement for the research lab’s work on mixed microbial ecosystems.
