The University of Calgary (UCalgary) intends to purchase the Miqus Hybrid motion capture cameras and cables, power kits, and accessories from Qualisys North America, Inc. UCalgary Human Performance Lab will collaborate with the partner institution in a prospective research study using a custom-built virtual reality software system and a 3D motion capture system to evaluate the biomechanics of patients with ACL injury in a simulated sport environment. The virtual reality software, developed by the partner institution, works exclusively compatible with the Qualisys motion capture platform. By acquiring the Qualisys system, the lab will be able to identify risk factors for subsequent ACL reinjury and quantify knee joint biomechanics associated with ACL injury mechanisms while patients are reacting to visual stimuli in standardized and repeatable sport-specific tasks such as jumping and hopping. Furthermore, collaboration on the research study requires the lab to use identical equipment and hardware to support the research objectives and ensure consistency of outcomes. It is the lab’s understanding that only Qualisys’ products can meet their research requirements.
