The University of Calgary intends to purchase a Thor Labs Bergamo II In Vivo Multiphoton Imaging Microscope with spatial light modulator from Delta Photonics to be combined with GRIN lenses for selective neuronal activation including 2 year warranty. This system will be used for researching neurological disorders, specifically how addiction and neural plasticity interact, which involves measuring correlated neural functions in vivo using two-photon imaging.
To the research team’s knowledge, this system has unique qualities that no other supplier provides. specifically, a large rotational axis and working space that allows for full rotation around the sample (a live animal) allowing for full freedom of movement, which is necessary for in vivo experiments. Additionally, this in vivo multiphoton microscope with five axes of motion allows for 26+ cubic inches of open space and fix axis of motion to translate the optical axis around the specimen and allows for virtual reality experimental setup required for research
The system must be able to work with live samples with equipment has the ability to simulate natural environment for example, in vivo imaging of mammalian brains via a transcranial window or GRIN lens.
