The University of Calgary intends to purchase a Leica Stellaris 5 Confocal Microscope with 405 nm and NIR extended white light laser (WLL), fully integrated widefield/brightfield, and 5-year extended warranty.
To the research team’s knowledge, this is the only microscope system that is compatible, integrating seamlessly, with the 3 existing Leica microscopes and their downstream Leica LASX analysis workflows.
This consistency and compatibility are vital for the continuity of experiments, particularly multiplexing requiring a WLL and fluorescence separation, streamlined high throughput 3D imaging and analyses requiring a single software interface, large sample (cleared organs, organoids) 3D imaging requiring compatibility with current Leica long working distance and motorized refractive index matching objectives. Other benefits are optimal user support and increased versatility and productivity through interchangeability of specialized objectives, long-term and live experiment accessories and sharing of the same Leica LASX software platform and file type.
In addition to the required compatibility, to the team’s knowledge, this system has unique capabilities, including but not limited to fully tunable visible and NIR excitation and detection along with arrival time measurements, and is the only fully motorized system able to accommodate all proposed experiments and analyses within a single software platform.
