The University of Calgary (UCalgary) intends to purchase the Kinarm End-Point Lab, including software, hardware, and an extended warranty from Kinarm. The Kinarm Adjustable Height Configuration (AHC) Bimanual End-Point Robot enables precise measurement and control of upper limb movements and forces through stiff, lightweight handles, while integrating a virtual-reality setup for visual stimuli presentation. It features detailed kinematic and kinetic data capture, user-friendly task development in MATLAB™, and synchronization with high-resolution force plates to analyze ground reaction forces and balance adjustments. The system includes a weight-bearing harness for fall prevention. The UCalgary project requires a 2-D planar robotic system designed to investigate sensorimotor control and learning in the upper limb(s) and balance systems of human participants. The robot will allow detailed measurement and control of movements and forces through handles grasped by the participant. To UCalgary’s knowledge, the Kinarm Adjustable Height Configuration (AHC) Bimanual End-Point Lab is the only system that offers a software environment for custom task development, integrated visual reality, and supports 2-D motion for planar arm movements, which aligns precisely with UCalgary's research needs.
