The University of Calgary intends to purchase the Mach-1 v500cs Multi-axial Mechanical Tester with extended warranty from Biomomentum. This system is tailored for testing soft materials and biological tissues.
To the research team’s knowledge, this machine’s modular design comprising indentation profilometry/thickness mapping system, uniaxial tension and shear testing capabilities (in addition to ability of upgrading to include 3D indentation and torsion modes) is the best suited, in the research team’s opinion, for the specific research program focusing on mechanically characterizing healthy and wounded skin.
