The University of Calgary (UCalgary) intends to purchase a multiphoton microscope with the Pacific Optica Diesel 2p air objective from COSYS Ltd.
This system has two independently controlled optical paths allowing the user to image two (or more) brain regions at the same time within a 5 x 5 mm field of view. This enables the recording of the dynamics of neural circuits that are separated by millimeters from each other which is necessary for the research dynamics of neural circuit studies versus a single optical path which requires the brain regions need to be imaged sequentially.
To the research team’s knowledge, this is the sole supplier that can provide a mesoscope that can meet all the technical requirements and allows simultaneous acquisitions from distal brain regions and is the only approved vendor in Canada to install Pacific Optica Diesel2pm air optics in the microscope.
