The University intends to purchase Illumina Canada’s NextSeq 1000 sequencing system, trading in an existing Illumina NextSeq 500 system. The research lab is currently using this instrument for well-established single-cell-based studies performed in the NextSeq 500 NGS system. Therefore it is critical that the new sequencing platform be seamlessly compatible with this existing assay routinely run in the lab. The use of the NextSeq 1000 system will not only ensure compatibility with the exciting platform but also consistent and reliable results while allowing the lab to use the same optimized and validated wet lab protocols for library preparation maintaining the same sequencing chemistry as the lab scales their sequencing capacity needs.
