The University of Calgary intends to purchase a nVokeTM miniature microscope, fully integrated and assembled for immediate use, from Inscopix Inc. To the lab’s knowledge, Inscopix Inc. is the exclusive developer, manufacturer and distributor of the nVoke TM miniature microscope, data acquisition software and data analysis software package. This system is required for large-scale imaging of calcium activity and blood flow dynamics in freely behaving rodents during simultaneous optogenetic manipulation of activity. This system is small and lightweight providing scientists a scalable opportunity to perform multiple animal studies at the same time, with data analysis software solutions for integration and analysis of calcium imaging and/or blood flow imaging videos collected with nVoke.
To the lab’s knowledge, only the Inscopix Inc. system multicellular recording device uses a lens to visualize fluorescence and has the optogenetic and synced behavioral capabilities necessary for the CFI research.
